Men and Women of Science

The Origins of Knowledge

From Antiquity to the Space Age, curious minds have patiently questioned nature to uncover its laws. Behind every formula, every instrument, and every major discovery, there is a woman or a man who doubted, searched, sometimes failed, and then tried again. This section brings together these figures of knowledge, whose work has transformed our understanding of the world and the universe.

A Diversity of Disciplines and Paths

Here, you will discover scientists from a variety of fields: astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, Earth sciences, and many more. Some names will be familiar to you, others less so, but all have contributed to advancing science. Their journeys reflect the richness of approaches, historical contexts, and cultures that fuel scientific research.

A Human and Collective Adventure

Through these biographies, we will explore genius, of course, but also perseverance, collaborations, debates, and sometimes controversies. Many had to overcome social, political, or institutional obstacles, particularly women and minorities long excluded from scholarly institutions. Exploring their stories is to understand how science is built: a collective, human adventure, constantly evolving.
